This handbook and the accompanying online toolkit offer guidance on how to approach the revitalisation of town and city centres by delivering long-term impacts and using broad principles that can be tailored to meet local needs.

The Local Government Association (LGA) has long campaigned for reform of our care and support system and we believe we are edging closer to seeing real, tangible change for the better. The forthcoming white paper will be the next important milestone on this journey and we want to use its publication to continue building the momentum for reform.

The Centre for Local and Regional Government at Cardiff University carried out an independent evaluation of our Corporate Peer Challenge programme to help assess its effectiveness, impact and value for money.

This report draws on a series of interviews with the leaders and chief executives which have hosted corporate peer challenges or received sustained improvement support from the LGA.

The Local Government Association and St Basils led a sub-group of the Rough Sleeping Advisory Panel on Monday 7 August 2023. The sub-group ran for 90 minutes to scrutinise and assess the progress made against the commitments made in the cross-government ‘Ending Rough Sleeping for Good’ strategy and highlight future and wider delivery challenges.

In summer 2023, the Rough Sleeping Advisory Panel set up three sub-groups to focus on prevention, led by the Local Government Association and St Basils; recovery and intervention, led by Housing Justice and Thames Reach; and transparent and joined-up systems, led by the Centre for Homelessness Impact and London Councils.

Voters and tax payers have a strong interest in increasing the amount of material from households that is reused and therefore not sent to landfill or for incineration. In addition to the significant environmental benefits and social value reuse can create, there is a strong economic and business case for it too.

Pragmatix Advisory has been commissioned by the Local Government Association (LGA) to explore the economic challenges facing rural and coastal areas, with a particular focus on deprivation, and outline what steps government can take to strengthen the recovery and resilience of these communities within the current context.

This literature review was commissioned by LGA and conducted by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER).

Completed by NFER and commissioned by LGAAR on behalf of the IDeA, this short scoping paper provides an overview of the research work on child safeguarding that had taken place since the Baby Peter episode.
