Leeds has a clear ambition to be a hundred per cent digital, where everyone in the city has the opportunity to get online and to develop digital skills and confidence. To measure progress against this ambition, one of the council’s “20 for 2020 Key Indicators” is the percentage of adults in Leeds who have all five basic digital skills. 

Gloucester City Council developed and implemented a ‘My Council / Report it' App which allows its customers to utilise mobile technology to identify a range of issues (such as flytipping, dog fouling, graffiti, pot holes etc) and to send real-time information, identifying the nature of an issue, its location and status directly to the council.

A project to drive online take-up of e-forms through MyAccount in two service areas; council tax and waste management. This project focussing on customer engagement, marketing and behaviour change to use existing systems.

Blackpool has developed fully integrated online processes for its high-volume waste management transactions, including bulky waste collection requests, missed bin reports and fly-tipping notifications.

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has put itself at the forefront of assistive care technology. It uses both monitored and stand-alone devices to help 2,500 people live independently.

The health service and local government have worked together closely across the Bradford and Airedale region to provide telemedicine to care home residents and people in the community.

Tameside has adopted a ‘thin layer model’ approach which sews together digital infrastructure assets across the city, more rapidly deploying fibre than via traditional methods.

Care technology when considered as part of a holistic support offer means it can be used effectively to support people’s independence and positively impact on their lives.

Partners Christchurch and East Dorset Councils identified licencing as an area of high demand and volume, with the majority of the process being handled offline.

Breckland Council in Norfolk and South Holland District Council in Lincolnshire have a shared management model and have jointly launched a comprehensive transformation programme that includes an important work stream on digitalisation.
