West Sussex County Council has set up a young parents pathway to complement the work of the Family Nurse Partnership. The service is able to support young parents who would not normally qualify for FNP help. This case study is an example of the work that councils are doing to support young parents.
Torbay Council wishes to influence the size and shape of its residential care home market for older people, desiring an expansion of alternatives to residential care in the future. The remaining care homes will provide more specialist services for people with complex needs and dementia. The project developed a multidimensional analysis to provide a view about the quality and viability of providers required in the future, to inform a market strategy for Torbay. The London Borough of Ealing commenced work to further enhance the proven functionality of ‘SNAP’ software to deliver the agreed savings for Ealing and the joint partners.
The aim of the project was to develop a sustainable approach to counter-fraud across the county council activity, underpinning the council's policy of zero tolerance to fraud.
This project looked to build upon the success of the council’s internal data matching by developing analytical tests that can run against all of the council’s systems to detect potentially erroneous or suspicious transactions.
The consortium formulated the bid intended to enable fraud investigation capacity to be retained by councils following the introduction of the Single Fraud Investigation Service (SFIS) by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).
The project aim was to help the council build an effective, sustainable counter fraud capability. This was achieved through fraud awareness to promote an anti-fraud culture and investigating and pursuing those found to be committing fraudulent behaviour.
The estimated cost of health tourism to the NHS is considerable in both financial and clinical terms. The bid sought to bring together local authority and NHS local fraud partners to share data and identify cases for fraud investigation and debt recovery.
