The LGA in Parliament report highlights a vital part of our role as the voice of local government, working with parliamentarians as we seek to inform debates, the scrutiny of legislation that affects local government, and shape the reports of select committees and All-Party Parliamentary Groups.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to sweep across our world, our councillors across England and Wales have done incredible work assisting those in need, advising and leading in our councils and in our communities. This annual report, published in November 2020, focuses on our achievements of 2019/20, including the start of the lockdown from 24 March. 

In June 2020 the Local Government Association (LGA) conducted a consultation to gather views on its draft Model Member Code of Conduct as part of its work on supporting the sector to continue to aspire to high standards of leadership and performance. Responses to the consultation were gathered through an online questionnaire as well as by email via a dedicated inbox. This report combines all of the responses received and presents an overview of the themes that emerged.

The LGA's Perceptions Survey is an annual survey of member authorities. It is conducted to measure: the extent to which councils understand and engage with the LGA and its offer; how they view the LGA and engage with their communications; and specifically their views on and experiences of the support and resources it offers relating to sector-led improvement.
