In April 2020, Solace and the LGA launched an Emergency Coaching and Mentoring Support Programme for those leading the response to the COVID-19 pandemic across local government in England. The programme was specifically aimed at chief executives, directors and professional leads working directly on managing the response to COVID-19.

The survey was conducted in February-May 2018 in order to gather information about educational improvement professionals, educational psychologists and young people’s/community service managers. The information collected related to pay and grading, working status, vacancies, workforce characteristics, recruitment difficulties, and information about recruits.

This report presents the findings of a survey used to gather evidence on recent savings and efficiencies made by councils – and the financial pressures they currently face.
